NOLA2MoMA is a celebratory movement inspired by New Orleans-based writer and artist L. Kasimu Harris, whose work is making history. Five photographs from his Vanishing Black Bars & Lounges series have been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art and will be featured prominently in New Photography 2025: Lines of Belonging.
This initiative—including a field guide and a series of events—creates a vibrant space for community, connection, and cultural pride. It invites audiences to support Kasimu and celebrate the momentous recognition of New Orleans culture at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions. NOLA2MoMA bridges artistic genres and honors the spirit of the city through creativity, conversation, and collective celebration.
